– It will be interesting to see if this is Henrik Lundqvist to see the season after, as mentioned, Georgiev played 65 minutes last night. Lundqvist has only 2 wins since the beginning of February and has not won in his last six starts, dating back to March 9. He has also played only three games since March 20.

Lundqvist only played one game against the Pens this season and he was awful. He conceded 6 goals on 18 shots and was shot after 44 minutes. In some ways, it seems odd not to use the face of the franchise for the home final to give him and the fans an extra chance to see him play (and in a fun role of trying to play spoiler at hopes of CBJ) instead of scrolling. him on the b-2-b against a team of pens that just lighted him in recent years.

There is no next year to say because next year does not bring us hope, but one step closer to an era without Lundqvist. In what will be one of the biggest black spots in the history of the Original Six organization, the sad reality of Lundqvist's retirement / leaving the team without Stanley Cup to his credit will be one of the worst. Letting a generational goalie do his job for a decade without the equipment is almost too much to believe. Having one of the best goalkeepers to play this post without having a ring is a tragedy.

In retrospect, it looks like the Rangers were wasting their crazy years from 2010 to 2015, when the pens collapsed and the Capitals had not figured it out yet. Boston was pretty good in this mini-era, but for NYR to come empty-handed with the team that he had and that east of the east was hard to take. Los Angeles and Chicago at that time ended up being the cream of the crop.
