A disturbing video released by the New York Police Department on Monday shows a woman rising from a bench and pushing another woman into a moving subway train entering a Times Square station during the commute during the morning rush hour in what is believed to be an unprovoked attack.

The suspect, who police describe as a woman in her 30s wearing a multi-colored scarf, black shirt and tan pants, is seen standing up from a bench inside 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue station and suddenly pushing past a 42 year old woman, who is off camera.

Video shows this happened as a northbound No.1 train was speeding through the station. The attacker then seems to move away calmly, because several other passers-by on the platform seem relatively unaffected. Police said the 42-year-old did not fall onto the tracks, but the force of the push had thrown her onto the moving train before she ricocheted back onto the platform.

NYPD Crime Stoppers are asking for information about an assailant captured on video Monday pushing a 42-year-old woman in a moving subway train at a Times Square station during the morning rush hour commute.
