New York woman shot in the back of the head hours after attending a friend’s funeral, according to her brother

Creepy surveillance footage from New York City shows a woman walking behind a Brooklyn mother, pulls out a handgun and shoots her in the back of the neck on a crowded street, according to the NYPD.

Police identified the victim as Delia Johnson, a 42-year-old woman who can be seen leaning against a railing and speaking to a group of people on a porch in Crown Heights moments before her murder.

A police source said investigators had a possible suspect’s identity card but had yet to make an arrest.

The video shows the assassination-style murder of Johnson, who was punched in the back of the head and then again in the leg after collapsing. Witnesses can be seen taking cover as the gunman gets into a white vehicle and leaves.

Police working in the area heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene, according to an NYPD source.

Officers arrived within moments and found a weak pulse and began performing CPR despite a serious gunshot wound to the head, according to the source. She was later pronounced dead in a hospital.

A longer version of the video, which has not been released, shows the gunman in the area for an extended period of time as people hung out on the sidewalk and near the porches, the source said. At one point, a man appears to hand the suspect something, which she hides behind her back before the shooting.

Johnson’s brother Mathis Johnson told the Daily News the perpetrator may have followed his sister since the funeral of another local resident earlier today.

“She was at a funeral earlier in the evening to have an old friend from the neighborhood pay her respects, and then it happened,” he said. “It was horrible. This lady executed my sister.”

Family members said she had a 17-year-old daughter.

Police described the shooter as a dark-skinned, adult female in her mid-twenties, with a heavy build and long blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black tights, a silver belt, black and white sneakers and a white handbag.

Gun violence skyrocketed in New York and other major cities in the year following the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis, which sparked protests and violent protests.

Last year, the city saw 468 murders compared to 319 in 2019, according to police statistics.

So far in 2021, there were 245 on Sunday, the most recent data available.
