NEW YORK – Yankees coach Aaron Boone is unsure whether Clint Frazier will be able to play baseball again after the outfielder was removed from a minor league rehab mission on Monday due to vision problems persistent.

“We’ll see,” Boone said when asked if Frazier would play again. “Obviously he’s been through a lot and seen a lot of people and a lot of testing and everything. We’re just going to try to keep following him and support him where we can. But for now a little pattern of expectation. I know he’s feeling good today, so we’ll see. “

Frazier, 26, began a minor league rehab mission last Tuesday after missing nearly six weeks with dizziness and other symptoms consistent with vertigo. He’s gone 4-10 in three games, but Boone said Frazier didn’t feel good heading into Sunday’s game with Double-A Somerset and pulled out of the roster.

Frazier was officially removed from the rehabilitation mission on Monday and transferred to the 60-day casualty list.

“I just didn’t feel good enough to post,” Boone said before New York played against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. “And so, decided to unplug, and we applaud her for making that decision.”

Frazier was placed on the injured list on July 1 with what was initially called vertigo and later defined as a possible vision problem. He missed most of the 2018 season with lingering concussion symptoms, but it’s not clear if his current concerns are related.

A 2013 first-round pick by Cleveland, Frazier hit well in 2019 but was banned from the Triple-A for much of the season following several defensive errors.

He finally cracked the crowded New York outfield for consistent playing time in 2020 and shone. He hit .267 with .905 OPS and more stable defense in left and right field, gaining a daily role for the 2021 season.

The breakout fizzled out this year. Frazier reached .186 with five homers and a .633 OPS in 66 games before moving to IL.

Also on Monday, right-hander Luis Severino (right shoulder tightness) underwent an MRI as scheduled. Boone said the team hope to review the results before the night is over.

Wide receiver Gary Sanchez (COVID-19 IL) has hit the field and could be activated on Tuesday for a doubles program against the Boston Red Sox.
