A New York man was arrested Friday after allegedly trying to stop a van pretending to be a police officer, with the exception of one problem: the van was full of detectives.

Valiery Portlock, 25, turned on the hazard lights and fired a horn of wind at Hicksville, a Long Island town about 30 km east of New York City, on a causeway on Friday morning while He was trying to park a van, investigators said.

According to News 12 Long Island, this van was filled with detectives from the electronics team of the Nassau County Police Department.

While the detectives identified, Portlock reportedly attempted to flee the scene. The authorities claim that he drove away, enlisted in traffic and then quickly headed to the Long Island Expressway, where he was stopped by the road patrol .

Portlock was arrested without incident and charged with identity theft, reckless endangerment and police escape. He was released under his engagement after being charged on Saturday.
