A JetBlue flight from Newark Airport to the Dominican Republic was redirected to JFK airport on Sunday morning when some people on board got sick and reported a strange smell, the airline said .

JetBlue flight 1203 departed Newark International Airport at around 6 am and was scheduled to land in Santo Domingo before 10 am, according to the airline's flight tracking aircraft.

The plane "is bent on New York-JFK for caution," said JetBlue spokesman Claudio Cruz, noting that passengers and crew members felt unwell.

According to NBC4, a number of people on board became dizzy and started to vomit because of a strange smell.

Cruz stated that the airline had not received any information regarding an unusual odor.

The incident occurs a day after the evacuation of a JetBlue aircraft to Newark after a photo of a suicide vest was seen or a passenger photographed someone wearing a vest.
