A prison officer from Illinois was arrested early Sunday and accused of assaulting his new wife after she was found dead in a covered parking garage in downtown St. Louis.
Bradley Jenkins, 30, was charged with third-degree assault on Monday following the death of 27-year-old Allissa Martin. Jenkins was sentenced to $ 100,000, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Police responding to a 911 call to report a fall found Martin's body outside the garage near Busch Stadium shortly before 2 am Sunday. The court documents quoted by Post-Dispatch indicated that Jenkins was "restless and appeared to be intoxicated" when officers found him straddling Martin's body.

According to the documents, Jenkins reportedly told investigators that he and Martin – also an Illinois prison officer – had attended Saturday's baseball game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs with a few colleagues. Jenkins said the couple had played during the match, but denied having a physical confrontation.
Authorities say the police found Martin's cell phone on the seventh floor of the garage with video recording. When the police watched a filmed video over the phone, they saw Martin "pointing the camera at himself," detective Mark West of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said. "She then turned the camera towards the accused and showed it to the camera, they were arguing."

According to court documents, one could hear Martin recording to Jenkins so that he stops hitting her face before hanging up the phone. Shortly after, according to investigators, a cry is heard on the recording, followed by the sound of the woman hitting the ground.
Jenkins told the police that he had married Martin on May 22 in Las Vegas, prosecutors said.

A spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Prison Services told Post-Dispatch that Jenkins had been working for the agency since June 2010, while Martin had been working at the agency since March 2017.
Police said she was investigating whether Jenkins should face new charges.
