Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy admitted some of the channel’s post-election media coverage was not accurate, but defended the exit by simply saying that people’s opinions were being expressed.

Ruddy was interviewed on Peacock’s the Mehdi Hasan To show on how he can justify the disinformation and conspiracy theories that have been aired on the network, which has seen an increase in audiences and praise from Donald Trump.

Hasan accused NewsmaxPost-election coverage of “watching a parallel universe” as it continues to push disputed claims of widespread electoral fraud, the has denied the theory that the Dominion’s voting systems favored Joe Biden and the suggestion that Trump could still be president in January.

Hasan also played a “particularly ridiculous” clip for Diamond and Silk, which appears on Newsmax although he was cut from Fox News for spreading conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the clip, Diamond and Silk, real names Lynette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, claim the “China virus” and the “scandemic“are linked to a comprehensive plan for Democrats to rig the election.

“Considering that you’ve been a reporter yourself Chris for over 30 years, do you feel embarrassed to do silly things like that on your network and call it news?” Hasan asked.

“Like every network and network you’ve been on, there are a lot of opinion hosts, and they have all kinds of things that I don’t subscribe to,” Ruddy replied.

“I believe in free speech, I believe people have their opinions. We’re not saying that’s right.”

Hasan then interrupted Ruddy to ask him “Aren’t you saying your own shows are correct?” to which he does not respond.

“We’ve done everything we can to say that we have no evidence that the Dominion software has been tampered with in any way,” Ruddy continues.

“We report what people say like the Trump campaign, we don’t necessarily endorse it.”

Hasan then asks when history returns to that “undemocratic moment” where many Republicans were trying to “overturn a free and fair election” if Newsmax would be “proud” of what they chose to broadcast.

Hasan gives an example of the press conference of recently sacked Trump’s attorney, Sydney Powell, accused of being a QAnon and suggested that former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who died in 2013, created the Dominion voting systems to help rig the election for Biden.

“It is a prominent lawyer who filed a complaint about this. She’s a former American lawyer. Again, I think the public can make a decision, rather than you or me, as to the quality of the information they give out and whether it is legitimate.

Hasan tweed an excerpt from the interview, which has since been viewed over 200,000 times.
