The police cordoned off the parking lot where a 34-year-old female body was found Sunday.

Police are still trying to piece together the events that led to the discovery of a woman's body in Mt Roskill, Auckland.

The 34-year-old man's corpse was found in an alley, in front of Mt Roskill Elementary School, on Frost Road, around 1:40 am on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong stated that a post mortem body examination would be conducted on Monday and that death was still considered unexplained.

"The formal identification has not yet taken place," he said.

He said that the woman's name would not be released until the next day. identification has been completed and that all next of kin have been notified.

  An autopsy of the body would be performed on Monday.

The scene was closed on Sunday, and employees from neighboring companies were sent home while the police were investigating.

Armstrong said that a review of the scene would continue Monday and the police hoped to provide an additional update in the afternoon.
