SUPPLIED / SPCA [19659004] Sky is now happy with a new family after her former owner, Matthew Madsen of Waihi, beat her and left her with a fractured thigh bone without treatment.
For 3 months, Sky had kept her weight yapping while trying to jump on a couch or bed.
In October 2017, at the age of 4 months, Sky, a rottweiler puppy, was beaten and his thigh bone fractured. She was left to suffer for months with no treatment needed
It was only when the Waikato SPCA was informed by a complaint in January that Sky would receive the treatment she desperately needed.

Inspectors visited Matthew Madsen's Waihi home where they found Sky "clearly lame", according to the SPCA
As a result of a veterinary examination, which revealed that Sky had a fracture at the top of the # 39, left thigh bone and aseptic necrosis or tissue death, Madsen was charged with the Animal Welfare Act 1999.
On Tuesday, in Waihi District Court, he pled guilty to mistreatment of an animal and an animal that was not receiving treatment that alleviated unreasonable or unnecessary suffering or distress.

He was ordered to pay $ 1654.70 for repairs and was disqualified from owning animals for five years.
Madsen, in a formal interview with the SPCA before the trial, said that he was injured when he gave her "two slaps on the backside".
Madsen's roommate painted a different scene – a scene where Sky was dragged up to her niche, her muzzle wrapped by Madsen's hands to stop her from breathing.
Sky gasped as he had a panic attack, moaning in pain and not moving. The roommate took Sky to the vet where pain relief was given with tips to return if there was any improvement.
In February, Sky was seized. Since then, she has recovered and adopted a new family.
"The sky deserves justice," said SPCA executive director Andrea Midgen. "She suffered physical abuse from her owner who went beyond a mistaken belief in correction. He was cruel
" Leave a puppy in obvious pain for months without looking for a veterinary treatment is incomprehensible. It's hard to imagine hearing your mate scream in pain and let him suffer. "
