The Christmas songs that the Kiwis looked for the farthest in 2018

It looks like Kiwis are looking for the joy of Christmas, with online searches for festive songs steadily increasing since the end of October.

The 10 most searched songs up here have been published by Google with a little more than a month before the big day.

And according to Google NZ's YouTube search data, we're big fans of our celebrity covers.

Not surprisingly, all I want for Christmas is Mariah Carey topping the list.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the hierarchy, we are still keen on classic classics, with The Little Drummer Boy, the fourth most sought-after song this year.

Check out the other Christmas jams that the Kiwis have been looking for below – and Happy Holidays Mariah, everyone!

1. Mariah Carey – All I want for Christmas is you

The title, released in 1994, is considered the most sold modern Christmas song in the world.

2. Ariana Grande – Santa Claus

We can assume that the younger generation is responsible for the appearance of this song so close to the top of the list.

3. Wham! – Last Christmas

This classic has been covered by many artists since its original release and is the quintessential Christmas for all generations.

4. Pentatonix – Small Drummer

The American group a cappella now has two complete holiday albums.

5. Justin Bieber – Gui

This Christmas will be the first with Biebs as a married man, so it's not surprising that this is on the map so we can remember baby Biebs.

6. Michael Bublé – He's starting to look a lot like Christmas

Some will be shocked that it is not at the top.

7. Brenda Lee – Rockin 'Around The Christmas Tree

The classic nativity game for kids.

8. Pentatonix – Mary, did you know? Feat. The hangover

The song is a modern Christmas classic and makes Pentatonix the only band with two songs on the list.

9. Sia – sing for my life

Sia was one of the first artists to jump into the Christmas car 2018 with the release of this new single on November 1st.

10. Gene Autry – Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

More than 60 years after its release, this air still delights many people.
