A man seriously injured in Northland blast transported to Auckland

A seriously injured man was rushed to Middlemore Hospital in Auckland after reports of an explosion in Northland.

Dally said the crews had been alerted at 7:32 pm and that the accident had occurred in a coal hopper.

St John spokesman Chrissy Hamilton said the male was in serious condition. Hamilton said that the ambulance was the first on the scene after receiving the call at 7:58 pm

A police spokesman said the burned man would be transported to Auckland by helicopter .

Affco Moerewa was a meat processing plant established in 1917.
