Apple gives the iPhone XR to everyone at the Ellen Show

For the first time, Apple has partnered with the Ellen Show to offer the entire public an iPhone, the iPhone XR. In a somewhat silly sketch with Julia Roberts, Ellen DeGeneres announces to the crowd that she is getting the new iPhone.

The Ellen Show still offers 12 days of gifts for the holiday season, but Apple has never previously participated in essentially paid promotional segments. You can watch the 3 minute sequence below.

Ellen starts by playing the App Store Heads Up game on her iPhone XR, then the pair takes a selfie in Portrait mode. Roberts said, "I think it's cool because it's available in six different colors and has the best battery life of all time," which then led Ellen to announce that every member of the public was returning home with his own iPhone.

YouTube's description says "Special thanks to: Apple IPhone XR" (yes, with this capitalization) and so Apple was definitely involved in the promotion / advertising.
