Brendon Hartley, a dedicated Kiwi F1 driver, thanked "almost everyone" the Toro Rosso team for giving him his first chance at the level of elite motorsport.

In a barely veiled gesture on the part of the management that ended his two-year contract after only one season, the 29-year-old has refrained from thanking the entire team in a message posted on Twitter Wednesday.

"I left the circuit on Sunday with my head held high," Hartley wrote.

It was a day after Toro Rosso had confirmed that he would be replaced next season by the Thai driver of the British origin Alexander Albon.

Hartley also stated that it was simply another "speed bump" in his career and that he had "unfinished business in F1".

Hartley has had some ups and downs with his team and finished the F1 season by finishing 12th in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, following an untimely fall.

He had a year to complete his contract, but he still lost his seat. He scored four points in the F1 drivers' championship to finish 19th of the 20 drivers.

The teams have virtually confirmed their roster of drivers for 2019, with only one spot available at Force India. Lance Stroll of Canada, however, should pull himself together, which means that the future of Hartley's ride is slightly uncertain.
