The popular Santa Parade in Christchurch, which has taken off, returns to the city center this Sunday for the first time since the earthquake.
The parade will begin at 2 pm at the corner of Madras Street and St Asaph Street and continue slowly to the corner of Madras and Kilmore Streets.
The parade is highly anticipated. It will include colorful floats, popular children's characters, clowns, walking girls and, of course, the old man dressed in red suit.
The parade was organized by the Christchurch Children's Christmas Parade Trust, with the support of Christchurch City Council.

"We are delighted that the parade organizers have chosen to bring it back to downtown this year. The parade route, which is a little over a kilometer long, offers many exceptional views, "said Karena Finnie, Council Director of Council and Arts.
"We really encourage people who plan to attend the parade to get to town early and spend time checking all the new places and spaces that have been opened.
"There will be a real party atmosphere in the Cashel shopping center – starting at 11am, street entertainers, groups playing, make-up for the kids and radio station where they can write and post letters to Santa Claus.
"Most downtown stores will stay open until 5 pm on Sunday. If people want to make Christmas shopping after the parade, they can do it, "Finnie said.
"We crossed our fingers for a beautiful sunny day, but if the weather is wet, the parade will be postponed until the following Sunday."

Go to the parade
If you are going downtown, use the one-way street system and look for the blue parking signs: they will show you the direction of a parking lot.
The parking lot on Lichfield Street will provide all-day parking for $ 3 for those arriving before 11:30. There are 805 parking spaces in the Lichfield Street building.
For those using Christchurch Art Gallery parking, the first hour of parking will be free.
