West Ham star Cheikhou Kouyate is stuck in a showdown between Crystal Palace and Porto.

Palace believes that Senegal's international midfielder wants to go to Selhurst Park for £ 10m – but boss Roy Hodgson is forced to play a game of waiting.

This is because Kouyate is offered to the Portuguese champions as part of Hammers' offer to sign their striker Moussa Marega.

Hodgson is desperate to strengthen his engine room after losing Yohan Cabaye during a free transfer this summer.

Palace loves Kouyate – and is also close to a contract for one of his teammates

29-year-old French midfielder Maxime Gonalons is considered an alternative option to Kouyate if the Palace can not move forward.

A player that the Eagles should sign from West Ham is winger Michail Antonio, with a Kouyate, age 28, has taken 127 Premier League starts since arriving in Anderlecht four years ago for 7 M £, scoring 12 goals.

He played in all three matches of his country at the World Cup in Russia this summer.
