David Seymour, an eccentric politician, is organizing a community song event at Eden Park on Sunday at noon.
The inaugural ceremony of neighborhood songs will include a choir consisting of Auckland schoolchildren, as well as a variety of multicultural performances.
Dance with the starsAmelia McGregor will be co-host with the ACT party leader and the two will treat the audience together with a special Christmas waltz.
Entitled A Christmas at Eden Park, the doors will open to the public at 12 pm at the J entrance and are a collaboration of Eden Park and the Kingsland Business Society.
Seymour said he was looking forward to the event and encouraged families to organize a picnic and participate in free activities.
"It will be a real Christmas community concert for children, and I think it will be a wonderful afternoon," he said.
Santa will make a special appearance and food and drink will be available alongside arts and crafts in schools, community groups and local businesses.
Eden Park's executive director, Nick Sautner, said he is delighted with the neighborhood's efforts to organize the event.
