Eight people injured in an accident near Netherton, including one airlifted to Waikato Hospital

Eight people were injured tonight in an accident at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Awaiti Rd in Netherton near Paeroa.

Six of these people sustained mild, moderate and severe injuries, according to St John.

A helicopter was dispatched with three vehicles from St John who treated and transported the various patients to the hospital.

According to St John, seven people were transported to Thames Hospital and another was transported by helicopter to Waikato Hospital.

Emergency services were first called to the scene at 18:38.
