When kids start displaying unusually good behavior, this can only mean one thing: Santa is about to make the first of his many visits to Dunedin from here on Christmas Eve.

The big guy will participate in the 21st annual Parade of Santa Claus this Sunday during which he will be surrounded by nearly 80 tanks.

Parade Trust President Michelle Ellwood said this year's parade included characters from Pete's Dragon, Thunderbirds, Madagascar, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Flintstones, as well as clowns, fanfares, and motorcycles. emergency services.

Before the parade, Santa Claus would go to Dunedin Hospital to present gifts to the children's service.

The parade begins at 3 pm, at the intersection of Regent and George Sts, and ends in the Octagon by a children 's Christmas concert.

Ms. Ellwood said that it was the largest free public event organized by Otago and that a dedicated team of volunteers had worked hard to introduce it to families in the city.
