Fed Farmers warns of costly climate change measures

Federated Farmers warns of climate change measures that could hinder New Zealand's ability to make its way around the world.

The warning came in a submission to the Zero Carbon Bill, which aims to achieve zero net carbon emissions from 39, here 2050.

In his submission, Federated Farmers stated that he supported measures to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The 2015 Paris Conference on Climate Change

But she said it should not be to the detriment of the economic and social well-being of New Zealanders.

Federated Farmers warned that in the 2050s, New Zealand's costs of an aging population, it was therefore necessary to think carefully about what the climate change policy would do for the economy, the jobs and income.

The group stated that New Zealand's primary industries earned 64% of the population. Federated Farmers said it would be counterproductive for future governments to impose costs on producers who undermined these gains

Another proposal was submitted by Horticulture New Zealand

. She supported in principle the 2050 goal, but indicated that horticultural industry producers were mostly small to medium. She emphasized the importance of New Zealand's international competitiveness and the potential for larger overseas issuers to displace weaker issuers that would no longer be competitive in New Zealand.

Much of the last debate is on the status of methane in the fight against climate change. Methane is an intense but relatively short-lived greenhouse gas. Carbon dioxide is less intense but lasts much longer.

The government unveiled three alternative scenarios, and one of them introduced all greenhouse gases equally in the fight against greenhouses.
