Gareth Baber, coach of the Fiji Airways national men's team, said he had chosen Kalione Nasoko as captain for reasons of discipline and to reduce the pressure exerted by Jerry Tuwai.
Addressing Dubai's Fijivillage, Baber said Tuwai had a lot of pressure after Osea Kolinisau's departure.
Baber said that with Tuwai as a captain in recent seasons, he has been able to train a few other players to replace him at this position.
He added that Paula Draunisinukula, Vatemo Ravouvou and Jasa Veremalua were also involved.
Baber said that he did not want to be co-captain in the group because he only wanted one leader in the team.
