Todd Hazelwood to face Jamie Whincup's Commodore Holden ZB 2018 next year: Daniel Kalisz

Todd Hazelwood will participate in Jamie Whincup's 2018 Supercars of Holden ZB Commodore in Supercars next year.

Matt Stone Racing has acquired the chassis driven by the sevenfold Supercars champion this season as the technical agreement enters into a technical alliance with Triple Eight for 2019.

Hazelwood is set to take the wheel of the car for the first time on a test day on December 11 at Queensland Raceway, where Grand Tour test pilot Abbie Eaton will test an FGX Super2 Falcon.

The arrival of the ZB Commodore is long overdue after the team decided to move from Ford to Holden in the middle of the year after signing a contract with Triple Eight for next season.

"It's very exciting, obviously, Jamie has had great success with this chassis," Hazelwood told Speedcafe.com.

"With Triple Eight's customer program, our team will benefit greatly.

"We only have two full-time engineers on our racing team, which is why an alliance really strengthens the capabilities of a team like ours."

Hazelwood had a tough first season in the main game and saw some tough results in a competitive field.

Last weekend, the Coates Newcastle 500 was a beacon of light as Hazelwood set a record for his 13th win of the season in Race 30 on Saturday.

South Australia is eager to see how the team's package will improve results in 2019.

"We have a lot of things that fascinate us, our team works very well," he added.

"There is some evidence on Saturday in Newcastle where we do not have the fastest package in the pit lane, but we can blur the results.

"In the future, improving our capabilities with the ZB and the new alliance with Triple Eight will be a significant benefit and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve.

"It is still very early for us, we still have to understand the new car.

"There will be different suspension components and other things that will take time to understand.

"With limited testing, we will still be entering the beginning of the year with a lot to learn.

"We will work hard to minimize this loss and get results as quickly as possible."

Prior to testing the ZB Commodore, Hazelwood will be participating in the Adelaide Motor Show, which will take place this weekend.
