The longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century, from one hour and 43 minutes, is complete. Observers in London, like me, have only seen clouds. Others in the world have been luckier, and many have captured spectacular photos of this rare celestial event.
Here are some of the best from around the world:

The final shot!
Our only glimpse of the London lunar eclipse of Primrose Hill, taken in infrared at about 22:02.
I think this could be the only image of # lunareclipse2018 taken in London. Other takers? #lunareclipse @ProfBrianCox @BadAstronomer @ Astro_Matt27 pic.twitter.com/O3E4s18EKN

Just took a picture of the #LunarEclipse from the @Space_Station . Tricky to capture. The slight hue of blue is actually the atmosphere of the Earth, just before the moon "dives in". #Horizons pic.twitter.com/X8r7puloQl

Taken the Moon leaving the shadow of the Earth, just before going to bed in the South Atlantic. Last photo of the #LunarEclipse taken from #ISS . #Horizons pic.twitter.com/aNCzerchZ5
