Lena and Jack separated in January after five years together.

The HBO star, aged 32, explained that after the rumor that her ex would have passed to Lorde, who happened to be one of his good friends.

"It was so embarrassing, it was horrible," Dunham told The Cut.

"I will never know the life of someone else," Lena explained. "I've never talked to Ella [Lorde] about that.

"We have not talked since Jack and I broke up, it was awful, and I could not do anything about it except trust that what he was telling me was true."

After rumors began to circulate about Lorde in January, Antonoff decided to crush them on Twitter, just one month after breaking up with his five-year relationship with the New York native.

"Normally, I would never talk about rumors, but I would not want the most important friendships and working relationships of my life to be reduced to normative, heterosexual gossip," he tweeted at the time . "These relationships are deeply important and sacred, but I do not see anyone, Lol."

However, a few weeks after Antonoff's tweet, Lorde and he seemed to be "very like a couple" at Clive Davis party in New York just before the Grammys, a source told DailyMail.com exclusively at # 39; era.

The insider said, "It was obvious that they were dating someone, he could not forget his eyes." She looked as attracted as if she were hanging on. They are more than just friends.

"But he looked really shy, he was looking all the time over his shoulder, as he did not want to be bursting to be with Lorde."

In February, DailyMail.com published exclusive photos of the singer Royals in the company of Antonoff in his country, New Zealand.

Lorde, whose real name was Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, wrapped the Fun group member in her arms several times in the photos and they even walked arm in arm during their day in the city.

The record producer – who is also Fun's lead guitarist – and the Kiwi singer are close friends and frequent collaborators.

He wrote 10 songs for his second album, Melodrama, Grammy nominated for Album Of The Year.

Although they are no longer in communication with her former friend, Lena and Antonoff remain close friends and, she tells The Cut, they speak frequently.

Their relationship, she explained, probably lasted longer than expected.

Added: "He's a very loyal person, so he was not going to bail out when the situation got tough."
