Maori TV chief executive Keith Ikin resigned as broadcaster.
The Maori television channel paid tribute to Ikin, thanking him for his contribution to the company over the past year.
"Keith has taken the reins in a period of significant change and led the development of an ambitious new strategy to connect Maori's innovative content to an audience in the digital age." said board chairman Jamie Tuuta.
Deputy Director General Shane Taurima will assume the role of Acting Director General until the announcement of his replacement.
Māori TV said that she had already started the recruitment process to find a replacement.
In his statement, Ikin spoke of the privilege of working on Maori television.
"I would like to thank the team, which works extremely hard every day to create and disseminate Maori content, as well as the board of directors for the opportunity to help put it into action. changes on Maori television, "he said. "I also want to thank those who fought for Maori television and what it represents."
Ikin will leave Maori TV at the end of the year.
This news follows last week 's announcement that Maori TV would stop broadcasting news programs. Te Kāea, Kawekōrero, Aboriginal Affairs and Rereātea.
Earlier in the year, the broadcaster's staff had also been involved in a strike due to a wage dispute.
