Newark City Council members decided not to offer the position to one or the other of the two proposed candidates for the position of City Manager

The City published the following statement. Newark City Council has been conducting interviews for the City Manager position in recent weeks. Two candidates were presented to the community on Tuesday, July 24, and comments from residents and City staff were solicited and collected through comment cards and an online survey. Council members conducted the final interviews with candidates on Wednesday, July 25, reviewed the comments and deliberated on the finalists on Thursday, July 26. Following the July 26 discussion, Newark City Council chose not to bid on candidates. with the search for a new City Manager

City Council reviewed a significant amount of documents submitted by the finalist candidates and appreciated the responsiveness of the two candidates to the information requested by the city during the process as well as their participation in various events involving the Council, the staff and the community. Board members wish Vincent Jones and Mark Reeter what is best in their future plans and thank them for their interest.

Council members will work with the city's existing staff, who they believe plays his acting role admirably. continuing in these roles as the research process continues. We expect the position to be announced later this year.
