One dead at least eight injured in Levin and Kapiti accidents

One person died and five others were injured in an accident in Levin

Police said the accident occurred near the intersection of State Highway 1 and Lindsay Rd around 7:30 pm and involved only one vehicle. one person died on the scene, another was airlifted to Wellington Hospital in critical condition.

Four other moderate to moderate wounded were transported by ambulance to Palmerston North Hospital.

Diversions occurred on Lindsay and the Kawiu Roads and Serious Crisis Unit were notified.

Meanwhile, three people were reportedly trapped in vehicles after an accident on the Kapiti coast.

Emergency services attend the two-car accident at South Raumati – on National Highway 1 between the Whareora Road access ramp and the Kapiti Highway around 6 pm 45.

St John stated that one person was in critical condition, two were in serious condition and four had minor injuries.

A helicopter was called the scene with six ambulances

The northbound lane is blocked and the police unit in charge is present.

Motorists heading north on SH 1 to Wellington are notified of delays and must delay their trip if possible.

The occupants got out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived, and received moderate injuries.

Emergency services were also called at Longford Park Dr., in Takanini, 8:20 pm at a report of a single car hitting a pole.

The only occupant was trapped for a period of time and in serious condition.

They were taken by ambulance to the hospital and investigations are continuing.
