Cameron Munster, recently reinstated five-eighth of Storm, says he is ready to be a leader in Melbourne after the release of superstar playmakers Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk over the past 12 months.
Slater retired at the end of the 2018 season, while Cronk led the Sydney Roosters as prime minister. Cameron Smith, the Melbourne captain, has still not joined the Munster 2019 and is expected to become the main actor of Craig Bellamy's men in the next few years.
The day after the signing of a contract that will keep him in the storm until 2023, Munster said he would like to end his career as a club player.
"To be honest, the deal was probably concluded a few months ago, but we left it in the wind," he told reporters on Thursday.
"I'm really excited about the new generation of players coming out – really excited about the kids coming in."
"I'd really like to be a man from a club, but as you well know, it's a bargain. They've trusted me for five years, so it's up to me to pay back now. "
While Munster said he was ready to be a senior figure in the club, he still supported Jesse Bromwich as Smith's future successor as captain.
"It would be good [be a leader at the Storm] To be honest, it's a big hole, they've been in the club for 15/16 years, "said Munster about Slater and Cronk.
"It's not just me, but Jesse Bromwich was captain of his country, so he would be next in line with the club captain."
