The scheduled phone call from Jake White with Rugby Australia on Thursday was canceled.
Rugby Australia (RA) canceled a scheduled phone call with former Brumbies coach Jake White, originally scheduled for Thursday.
RA's chief executive, Raelene Castle, reportedly canceled the meeting, which had been opened at White's request, after this information was leaked to the media.
It is understood that White, who would have also offered his services to Japan as a substitute for Jamie Joseph after next year's World Cup, had approached Castle to offer his services to the Wallabies under fire.
The 54-year-old, who is under contract with Japanese club Toyota Verblitz, lost to Ewen McKenzie in the race to replace Robbie Deans when the New Zealander resigned after defeating the 2013 series against the British and Irish Lions .
In the same mold as outgoing President Michael Cheika, White is seen as a coach who gets quick results with less performing teams. He guided South Africa to victory in the 2007 World Cup after setting up a training course with Eddie Jones as technical advisor.

The RA management and its board of directors are due to meet on Dec. 10 to discuss Cheika's future as a Wallabie coach after the test team lost four of 13 wins this season and his victory rate dropped to 48.3%.
The Sydney Morning Herald He understands that RA has in mind Scottish rugby director Scott Johnson, who is playing a similar role with the Wallabies as part of a revised high performance model designed to make the test environment more cooperative.
It is unclear whether it will be from 2020 or whether the board of directors would decide that Cheika's role is untenable.
Cheika assistant coaches Stephen Larkham, Nathan Gray and Simon Raiwalui are reported to be under pressure.
Johnson, who has worked with Scottish head coach Gregor Townsend to turn the small test country into contenders for the Six Nations and World Cup in recent years, has been linked to a return to Australia for some time already.
The former captain of New South Wales, who has spent the last 12 years abroad, has been targeted by RA to play a role in Queensland, but seems to have stood firm for something bigger.
