Six people injured in accident in Kaipara district

Six people are injured, at least one of them seriously, as a result of an accident in Kaipara District.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident, occurred shortly before 9 pm on Highway 1 in Topuni.

In a statement, police said the initial indications were that six people were injured – injuries ranging from severe to moderate.

A helicopter had been sent to the scene.

Diversions were in place in Kaiwaka and Te Hana.

The road around the accident was closed and motorists were advised to avoid this area.
