Police were called to Dunedin Airport Sunday night.
A cordon was placed around the Dunedin airport after the discovery of a suspicious package.
Police said the report had been received shortly after 8:10 pm Sunday and a spokesman confirmed the presence of officers at the airport.
The airport has been evacuated.
At least one flight was impacted, an Air New Zealand flight departing from Wellington scheduled for 21:30.
Another Auckland flight is scheduled at 21:50.
The anti-bomb squad had to travel from Christchurch to the city.
