The big kiwi cook: it's a politically correct cake

[ad_1]

Good evening and welcome to this exciting new tour of What Happened On Pastry – Who nailed it and who completely erased it?

WHAT ARE THE HAPPES OF THE EPISODE THIS EVENING?

Call your paleo, vegan and tempting friends for a bikini because it's a gluten-free week, babies.

As a person whose favorite food is gluten (especially French baguettes), this has been a real personal disappointment – but I really appreciate the highly politicized inclusion of our awakened GF buddies.

Nicknamed "free", the gang had to make two cakes.

There was first a cake with orange and lavender, then a jazzy cheesecake that they cooked in small baths and, myself non-baker, I found that very shocking.

Annabel

If you google gluten free, I am quite certain that a photo of Annabel would appear.

If you google gluten free, I am quite certain that a photo of Annabel would appear.

During this episode, Annabel revealed that she did not contain gluten, which did not surprise you. Of course, Perfect Annabel is a gluten-free person.

However, Perfect Annabel absolutely based his first version of the cake with orange and lavender, which delighted me a lot because I am sadistic.

She basically threw an entire pot of lavender petals (or seeds – I'm not sure) into the mix and had to start over again when it collapsed in the oven – that was amazing.

After a second attempt, it turned out that it was quite good (uh), but it still climbed to third place.

The second Annabel cake was a "latte and mocha latte", which looked pretty sick for me personally, but the judges were interested in it. Do you agree.

STACEY

Call your paleo, vegan and other friends, it's true, it's gluten free week.

Despite the humility of bragging about having "made a cake for a friend 's wedding day," Stace' s orange and lavender cake was a little disturbed.

She collapsed into a pile, and she then launched the very daring call to mix her jam and ice cream to give a filling that looked like macaroni. She came in last place, no surprise here.

His second cake was a raspberry and lemon cheesecake, which was also slightly cooked and melted. Unfortunately, Stacey's cakes have not been there today.

LARISSA

Star Baker Larissy.

Star Baker Larissy.

Larissa, meanwhile, has totally broken it today and even eliminated the star baker.

Her orange cake and lavender was superb and she made a fabulous cheesecake featuring no less than 1300 flavors (raspberry, white chocolate, rhubarb, ginger, custard and about 1295 other than j & # 39; have forgotten).

The end result was balanced on stilts made of jazzy aluminum paper and the judges said it had a "creamy and melting" taste. Go girl!

JEFF

Abigail Dougherty / Stuff

Madeleine Sami and Hayley Sproull, hosts of the show "The Big Kiwi Bake", try to judge to see what all this fuss is about.

In tonight's episode, what Jeff was missing for cake stability (this central piece of his O & L cake is a little collapsed), he completely compensated by his rather naughty song around the kitchen.

He also bought with his second cake, a cheesy "pumpkin, ginger, tamarillo and white chocolate" cheesecake, which the judges described as "soft melted and cloudy," which sounded like good times. Yay Jeff.

HANNAH

The Great Kiwi Bake Off will follow the same format as the very popular mega-popular The Great British Bake Off.

Hannah was totally upset for her O & L cake – the judges said it had a cheesey taste and that it was "not smooth enough but acceptable".

Fortunately, she erased these negatives and fed them on the second round – but she also used an alarming amount of flavors (spicy pumpkin, milk chocolate, caramel, white chocolate, and maple syrup), which m & # Made me feel a little sick.

The judges however seemed to be great in the Flavor Extravaganza.

"The spices are on my tongue, in a nice way."

JOEL

Very Hot Joel - gone but never forgotten.

Very Hot Joel – gone but never forgotten.

Very Hot Joel did not get off to a great start when he was asked if he had already "cooked anything with GF" and he simply replied with an empty rage.

My personal highlight of this episode is however when Madeleine said what we all thought about Very Hot Joel throughout the season.

"Hayley, I do not think Joel actually cooked before this competition, I guess his buddies were like, you should be participating in a joke – it will be so funny."

Things were spoiling for Joely when his O & L cake looked like a stale piece of bread drawn from a Dickens novel and that his cheesecake was just a base number of a lemon and dough. a lime.

It is understandable that VHJ has been sent home, but I am sure it is not the last one we will see on national television – New Zealand just does not have enough of it. Attractive men to let him slip into the night.

Thanks and good night.
