Health Minister David Clark says an agreement on today's secure staffing is needed to prevent busy nurses from "running" between services

The agreement commits DHBs to fully deploy the dynamic "Care Capacity Demand Management" (CCDM) staffing tool by 2021 and to staff hospitals nurses suggested by the tool.

CCDM a jointly administered system to ensure that there are enough nurses in every department of a hospital. It uses software to determine where nurses are needed in real time (and in the future) and where they are not, allowing health teams to work as a team.
