A steady stream of vehicle inspectors is being suspended as the New Zealand Transportation Agency steps up its enforcement actions.
Two new suspensions of the mandate of the fitness inspectors have increased the number of vehicles requiring a new test to nearly 15,000.
This now means that 15 people or companies have been suspended from warrant certification, which has caused the New Zealand Transportation Agency to pay more and more.
The last two suspensions are in Auckland, where most of the suspicious tests of the WOF took place, and concern more than 5,000 vehicle owners.
On Friday, the New Zealand Transportation Agency suspended Auckland's tire inspection rights for Jet Wheel and Alignment and the company's only auto inspector, Anderson Lee.

The agency said that this was a follow-up to concerns about Lee's failure to check certain aspects of WOF vehicle evaluations, such as headlights, brakes, steering, tires, tire systems, and the like. exhaust and seat belts.
The NZTA also found that an unauthorized person was carrying out inspections by the WOF on behalf of Lee.
The agency also announced the suspension of Inspector Susantha Ranatunga of Auckland, who was not complying with almost all the technical checks he had made for Onehunga's Church Street Motors and Tires. WOFs ..
The NZTA indicated that it was unaware of any specific concerns regarding individual vehicles affected by the suspensions. However, due to the poor quality of the inspections, it is possible that some vehicles have been mishandled.
The agency therefore contacts all 5046 people with the current WOF information issued by Ranatunga or Jet Tires and Wheel Alignment, and encourages them to recheck their vehicles using the free vouchers it will provide them.
