Vintage motorcycles and unique models are just some of the special pieces that will be on display for motorcycle fans this weekend.

The Manawatū Classic Motorcycle Club is organizing a show at Barber Hall in Palmerston North to help spread excitement for motorcycles.

Organizer John Rushton stated that the club was formed in 1979 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts and that the goal was to preserve all classic motorcycles and promote motorcycling activities

This weekend's motorcycle show will have a variety of bikes on display.

This is the fifth year that the club has staged a show and he said he had exciting things on display.

"The public will also be able to see racing machines and specials, mainly unique pieces built by enthusiasts.

The club had about 200 entries from all aspects of motorcycling, including vintage motorcyclists, vintage, classic and modern.

Rushton said that a replica of the world's fastest bike – made famous by the motorcycle Kiwi Burt Munro's ace – would be on display

in its built streamliner by hand by the Indians, Munro, a land speed record in 1967 of 184,087 mph (296.26kmh)

The show is held on Saturdays from 10am to 6pm and on Sundays from 9am to 4pm.

Donations from the proceeds of the show will be made at the Arohanui Hospice.
