Wyatt Crockett bids farewell to the international

Wyatt Crockett is about to play one more international song when he heads the Barbarians against the Pumas at Twickenham this weekend.

After 71 tries for the All Blacks, Crockett announced his international retirement in February, but he now has the chance to break out of this level in one of the biggest rugby arenas.

Crockett should also have such luck, since he played a record 202 games for the Crusaders, but that he did not participate in the semi-finals and finals of Super Rugby this year. Joe Moody and Tim Perry have been favored by Blackhead props.

Such is his altruism, Crockett always gives priority to the team, but he will undoubtedly enjoy the chance to compete for one last time in Twickenham, theater of the triumph of the All Blacks at the 2015 World Cup.

It will not be the last goodbye, however, as Crockett commits to another season with Tasman in the Miter 10 Cup next year.

Crockett leads a team that covers eight nationalities and includes fellow crusaders, striker Jordan Taufua, who is back on the bench after a broken arm, and Auckland sideback Leon Fukofuka, who claims a leading role after his tour in the North with Tonga.

The Barbarians, led by Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus, have a strong South African flavor with eight Boks on the starting lineup, including captain Siya Kolisi, Handre Pollard, Damian de Allende and Player of the Year Rugby Union, Aphiwe Dyantyi.

Five more Boks are on the bench.

New rookie chef Jack Debreczeni is one of the most devastated players in the tournament.

The team was completed today with the arrival of Anton Peikrishvili. The pillar of Georgia is on the bench in the place of the French Alexander Menini, recalled by Lyon.

The Barbarians face Argentina for the third time in 128 years of history.

The Pumas were beaten 34-22 in Cardiff in 1990 but returned the favor in the 2015 return match of 49-31. Lood de Jager is the only survivor on the Baabaas side that day.
