The 2019 NFL season has finally arrived and the 32 teams are ready to begin the new year between Thursday and Monday.
We have rivalries, classics in prime time and previews of the playoffs around the world. Bears vs. Packers. Patriots vs Steelers. Panthers vs Rams. Cowboys against the giants. What does not love?
Foreseeing these games is part of the fun, but it is also a projection exercise mostly unpredictable. So, do not take it personally when we face your favorite team, or when your favorite team makes us look bad, or when we are right and somehow a "scourge" on your favorite team. We could cover the NFL, but at some point we all just guess about this wild game anyway.
That said, let's guess!
As the season progresses, we will compile my personal prognostic record so you can decide if my choices are worth reading (fingers crossed), but for starters we have a complete slate for week 1, complete with nine games at a different score that highlight how unpredictable Week 1 is really:

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
Thursday at 20:20 ET (NBC)
Point of propagation: Bear -3
You can not do better than that for the opening night. Green Bay has almost become the popular choice here because, well, Aaron Rodgers in prime timebut that should always be close. Think of September 9, 2018, when Rodgers' last-minute exploits spoiled an otherwise hot start to Chicago and his vaunted defense.
Prediction: Packers 26, bears 24

Atlanta Falcons against the Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, 1 pm ET (FOX)
Point of propagation: Vikings -4
This could be the most difficult match of week 1 to choose from. Minnesota is really well organized and Kirk Cousins and Co. will have the advantage of opening at home. The Vikings' defense is also real. That said, Atlanta has the biggest and best weapons on its best day. He might come back to bite me, but I'm going with Matt Ryan, upset, to start the Falcons season.

Washington Redskins at the Philadelphia Eagles

Kyle Shanahan will have a solid plan for the first game of the Niners, but Tampa's weapons are also underrated. If Bruce Arians really unpacks Jameis Winston, the Bucs will "steal" one at home.
Prediction: Buccaneers 27, 49ers 21
Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars should be better in 2019 and their division is bad enough to be back in the playoffs at the end of the season. Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns

Points distributed: Browns -5.5
If anyone has even one reason why we should believe the Titans are going to be good this year, I'm all ears. (Angry tweets arrive in three, two …) And look, while we're about to overestimate the Browns at this point, there's no way that Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and Co. should not have a day to start the season.

Los Angeles Rams at Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are a popular choice to bounce back in 2019, and rightly so. Cam Newton is rejuvenated, Ron Rivera has to win, etc. On the other hand, Sean McVay is a clever guy, but he's also not responsible for blocking for Jared Goff, who is more fearful than some people do not want to admit. Both teams should ultimately be in the playoffs, but Carolina has the advantage.

Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals

Point of propagation: Lions -2.5
Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury will be fun to watch, and maybe the idea that they will be dangerous because of their "novelty" (Eagles 2013 at Chip Kelly) may be something but Matt Patricia has an improved defense, Matthew Stafford will be comfortable in the dome, and the game of Lions running should be able to play against the stripped D of Arizona.

Broncos from Denver to Oakland Raiders
