New England used the Rams' first of two peaks to get back on the board: with 7-239, the team swapped three places against defensive lineman Byron Cowart. A development option that needs to refine its technique to the next level, the Maryland product has some positional versatility and physical tools to eventually develop as an option for rotation.
Patriots draft P Jake Bailey: 5-163
Four picks after Byron Cowart's pick, the Patriots have made further progress: the team has invested 5-167 and 7-246 to trade four places in the fifth round and choose Jake Bailey from Stanford. Bailey will face veteran Ryan Allen this summer.
Patriots draft CB Ken Webster: 7-252
After waiting for nearly 90 picks, the Patriots made their fifth pick of the day – and tenth overall in the 2019 draft – towards the end of the seventh round. New England has joined cornerback Ken Webster (Ole Miss), a developmental defenseman who needs to improve his perception of the game, but who has some basic skills.
