The San Francisco 49ers held a press conference Thursday afternoon to present the signatures of their flagship auto agents in Dee Ford & Kwon Alexander. They talked for about 20 minutes. It was a little embarrassing. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch obviously did not want to be there. For a good reason. It was just at the signing of Jason Verrett and the conclusion of some other contracts. They simply did not address the issues and it turned out to be selfless. You can say that they really believe in the players that they recruited, though.
Shanahan on the game plan for Alexander:
"He taught me a tough lesson: you have a better game plan for him, because I was not very good in the first game of 2016, we started 0-1 because of that. I remember that he had 20 tackles. I think it was maybe 16, 18. Lynch explains that both players can create turnovers and how important it is:
This is the type of player that we believe can reverse the trend. Starting with Kwon, he always had a propensity. He is always around the balloon. There is so much to love, but it's really something that's obvious. And then Dee, he has the chic to release the ball. Eight escaped forced last year, and as Kyle said, this first step is deadly. We believe that this can help our entire team to counter this virus, where we regularly get the ball.
Shanahan had my favorite quote right after:

When asked if he liked what the 49er were thinking of his role, the exchange between Ford and Shanahan was great:
