NFL news on Dallas Goedert and Alshon Jeffery in front of Eagles Vs. Lions

Adam Schefter, NFL insider has bad news and good news for fans of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The bad news is that starting catcher Alshon Jeffery is unlikely to play in the Eagles' third week match against the Detroit Lions. This is expected since Jeffery did not participate in the practice this week. The Eagles who promoted Greg Ward to the coaching team also reported an absence of Jeffery. Jeffery and DeSean Jackson having come out, the Eagles will have four healthy receivers: Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Ward.

The good news is that Dallas Goedert could play against the Lions. Goedert missed training on Wednesday and Thursday, but was able to participate on Friday. It was considered debatable on the final report on the injury. Schefter said Goedert "was surprisingly better in Saturday's training and is now considered a pre-game decision."

Even though he Is Goedert may not be able to manage his snapshot account. But having it at all could help an Eagles offensive under-equipped right now.

If Goedert can not play, the Eagles will be to Zach Ertz and Alex Ellis to tight end.

The Eagles will announce their inactive at 11:30 am Eastern time this morning. We will see if Goedert is officially active or not at that time.

According to opponent news, the Lions are expected to find left tackle Taylor Decker and linebacker Jarrad Davis back on Sunday. Decker's return could actually be bad news for Detroit, given the difficulties he faced during the first week. Lions reliever Tyrell Crosby did a great job replacing Decker last week. The Eagles could really use a big game from Derek Barnett on Sunday so let's see if he can take advantage of a less than 100% Decker.

The Lions also ruled out the alternate defensive lineman, Da'Shawn Hand, who was injured on his elbow (not by hand) on Saturday. He was not expected to play in this week's game.
