After another exchange, the Minnesota Vikings made their choice in the fifth round of the NFL draft in 2019. They finally selected a player on the defensive side of the ball.
With the 162nd pick of the NFL draft in 2019, the Minnesota Vikings picked Cameron Smith, a linebacker from the University of Southern California.
Lance Zierlein, of NFL.com, gave Smith a fourth or fifth round, compared to current Green Bay Packers linebacker Blake Martinez. Here is what he has to say about him.
The linebacker whose four-year career can be described as intelligent and stable. Smith lacks physical traits and athletic ability to excite general managers and his band is barely splashing. However, he has a keen sense of game development and uses smart angles and a proper technique to do his job effectively. He could hear his name called in the middle of the round, but a coaching staff will soon look beyond his limits and consider a future.
It sounds like a solid choice for the Vikings for me!
Welcome to Minnesota, Cameron Smith!
