Todd Gurley has been a workplace for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2018 NFL regular season, but the same can not be said of the playoffs.
Gurley averaged more than 18 rushes and about five catches per game before missing out on the Rams' last two games in the regular season. While the attacking half carried the ball 16 times for 115 yards with a touchdown in the Los Angeles victory against the Cowboys in the division round, he had 14 carries for 45 yards in the NFC championship game and the Super Bowl LIII.
The three-time selection at the Pro Bowl has denied a serious injury throughout the playoffs. Head coach Sean McVay also performed well at the NFL scouting competition (video above), attributing to Gurley the lack of contact with the last two Rams games. But as many have suspected, Gurley would have been handicapped.
According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Gurley suffers from arthritis in his lap.
It remains to be seen how the reported diagnosis will affect Gurley in the future. McVay, by Yahoo! Sports, revealed at the Combine that the 24-year-old would not need to be operated during the off-season and that stem cell therapy is not currently being considered.
Los Angeles signed a contract extension with Gurley of $ 60 million for four years last July with a guarantee of $ 45 million. He is currently the highest paid running back of the NFL.
