For now, the Pittsburgh Steelers game Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens despite the latter having up to 10 players and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 so far this week.

The NFL said Thursday’s game in Pittsburgh remains on schedule. Even so, the league appeared to leave open the possibility of the game being rescheduled if necessary, depending on the results of further testing.

“We will continue to monitor developments in consultation with our medical experts,” the NFL said in a statement, according to the Washington Post’s Mark Maske. “Our primary concern is the health and safety of players, coaches and staff on match day. There is no change in the status of the game. ”

Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday afternoon that Wednesday was an important day for the Steelers-Ravens game. A source reportedly told him that if there were more positive COVID-19 tests with the Ravens, the game could be postponed.

So far, the Ravens players who we know have tested positive are running backs JK Dobbins and Mark Ingram and outside linebacker Pernell McPhee. All three have since been placed on the Ravens Reserve / COVID-19 list. Another Ravens player, defensive end Derek Wolfe, appeared on the Ravens injury report on Tuesday with illness, so he could be another positive COVID-19 test result.

You can bet the NFL will do everything they can to make sure the Thursday night game is played as it is a prime-time TV game on Thanksgiving night. Plus, the Steelers-Ravens games are huge draws as well. In addition to everything just mentioned, the Ravens are also scheduled to play next Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

Stay tuned on Wednesday morning.
