Petara Cordero was killed after being hit by a car while both men were stopped with a flat tire. Brown shared images and a video of Cordero on his Instagram account on Friday.
"She is now in a better place and she can stay quiet," said Brown. "My wife, my best friend and the mother of my daughter-in-law, I love you baby."
Last month, Brown released another photo of Cordero announcing the birth of their daughter Haven Harris Smith.
Shortly after, a woman from the 2017 Mazda 3 struck the passenger side of the car and Cordero, who was standing shoulder, said the Cleveland police in a statement to CNN.
Police and paramedics arrived shortly thereafter.
Cordero was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital and released after receiving care.
A toxicology report is pending, but the woman confessed that she had been drinking, police said. Smith was not intoxicated, police said.
The incident is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed to date.
The Browns said the players had been informed at a team meeting. Head Coach Freddie Kitchens also visited Smith at his home.
"The words can not describe the pain we feel for Chris after the loss of his girlfriend, Petara," said team owners, Dee and Jimmy Haslam, in a statement. "Our entire organization is in mourning with Chris, his family and the Cordero family, and we will do everything in our power to provide our support, comfort and all the resources needed in this difficult time."
The Browns will have counselors onsite all week to provide emotional support to players and staff.
Mary Cay Cabot of Cleveland.com says that Cordero and Smith's daughter was born four weeks ago. Smith had been excused from the Browns pre-season game against the Colts of Indianapolis in August, in order to attend the birth of his daughter.
Smith, 27, was drafted in 2014 by the Jaguars. He has been with the Browns since last year.
