NFL thinks Dexter Lawrence’s offside appeal was correct

Amid real questions as to whether Giants defensive end Dexter Lawrence was actually offside for a 48-yard miss that gave Washington kicker Dustin Hopkins a 43 mulligan, the NFL has made it clear and firm that the ‘call was correct.

I laugh.

The league has not said anything on the matter. Instead, someone from the league office disclosed to Mark Maske of the Washington post the idea that the league thought the call was correct, but with no associated name. And, as history tells us, it makes sense to be skeptical of this approach, in at least 11 of the 12 cases.

Tweeted Maske: “The NFL thinks the Giants ‘Dexter Lawrence offside appeal on Washington’s failed basket was correct, according to a source:’he was offside. ‘ This source says that “two separate officials called him at the same time” and the accuracy of the call was corroborated by video evidence.

Fine. So say it officially. Put someone’s name on it. Respond to emails asking for comments with recorded responses. Stream the video aside.

Yes, the secondary video. We know someone who saw it. And this person said that Lawrence “timed perfectly.”

If the league doesn’t like what I’m saying here, roll the tape. Let’s go. Someone bragged to Maske that the “Hawk-Eye TechnologyAs long as Lawrence is offside. Let’s go. Reveal it. Tweet it from the official @NFL account with 27.1 million followers.

We live in an era of 2 + 2 = 5, where people say whatever they want with a straight face, no matter how ridiculous. So, I strongly prefer my BS over disk. And, as far as I know, the idea that the official answered Lawrence’s call well is BS.
