NFL to review helmet policy that could finally allow Seahawks to wear homecoming uniforms

Most NFL teams have a homecoming uniform as one of their alternates, but the Seattle Seahawks don’t. The reason for this has nothing to do with the tops and pants but rather with the helmet.

You see, the league instituted a rule in 2013 that banned teams from having multiple helmets, citing security reasons. The original AFC era Seahawks had a silver helmet, while the current Seahawks have navy blue.

According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, the NFL intends to address this policy and if the rule is changed to allow multiple helmets in a season, then we’re in business for a college rollback.

We could also see the Creamsicle uniforms coming back for Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as they also had a different helmet color back then compared to today.

Seattle’s choice replacements since their most recent uniform overhaul in 2012 have been the Gray Wolves on the Road and United Action Green who typically feature in prime-time home games.

Who wouldn’t want a little trip down memory lane with classic Seahawks colors, whether at home or outdoors? I just hope Seattle doesn’t make any off-season moves that could take the franchise back to unwanted years, if you know what I mean.
