The New York Giants managed to secure a 19-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals under Brandon Allen to move to 4-7 and first place in the NFC East.

Editor’s Note: All PFF ratings and advanced stats for this game will be finalized and made available to ELITE subscribers within 24 hours of the final whistle.

History of the game

Despite their win, New York lost quarterback Daniel Jones to what appeared to be a hamstring injury. Jones tried to get back into the game but limped off the field after just one pass.

Neither offense was able to push the ball much lower. Cincinnati hasn’t had any play that gained more than 20 yards (for the first time this season), while Evan Engram has had the only two for New York. Engram’s 129 receiving yards were a career high for the tight end, which has seen its fair share of struggles in 2020.

Wayne Gallman was also one of the few offensive bright spots in this game, rushing for his sixth touchdown in five games.

The Bengals’ offense was appalling without the overall No. 1 pick Joe Burrow. Cincinnati accumulated just 155 yards on total offense, the team’s lowest performance of the season.

Recruit watch

Tee Higgins was the only Bengals player to show any sort of life. He led Cincinnati in receiving yards and caught a touchdown that got the team under two. For the Giants, neither Andrew Thomas nor Shane Lemieux allowed pressure on Jones or Colt McCoy.

On the other side of the ball, the combination of Darnay Holmes, Carter Coughlin and Cam Brown recorded four pressures on the day. Niko Lalos was also able to take out Brandon Allen, and Tae Crowder recorded three tackles – the biggest among all rookies.

For the Bengals, Logan Wilson pressured the quarterback twice and paved the way for all rookie defenders, with 35 shots.
