NFL week 13 injuries: Matthew Stafford and Andre Swift questionable, Daniel Jones questionable and more updates

[ad_1]

We’ve reached Week 13 of the 2020 NFL Regular Season, and just hope this “week” doesn’t last as long as Week 12. We didn’t have a Thursday night football game to enjoy, but we have a lot of interesting games to look forward to. In addition, we will have several prime-time games this week, with one game on Sunday night, two on Monday and another on Tuesday.

Several notable players face injuries as their teams continue to battle for playoff positioning. Kyler Murray was hampered by a shoulder injury, Todd Gurley could miss more time due to his knee injury and the New York Giants could end up losing first place in the NFC East due to the injury to the Daniel Jones hamstrings. Two days away from Sunday’s games, let’s take a look at the latest NFL injury reports.

All NFL odds are taken from William Hill Sportsbook.

Cleveland was hoping Ward would return to the starting lineup this week, but that unfortunately won’t happen. He was ruled out on Friday due to his calf injury.

While they will be without at least four players on Sunday, the Saints will have running back Alvin Kamara, who was a full participant on Friday after being limited in the Saints’ first two tries. Harris is questionable even though he hasn’t practiced all week.

Jones and Gurley were limited on Friday after being absent from practice on Thursday. Jones said after practice he “feels really good” heading into Sunday’s game. If Gurley is to miss his second straight game, expect the Falcons to split their runs between Ito Smith and Brian Hill, who combined a 120-yard run and a 25-carry touchdown in last week’s win over the Raiders.

  • Bengals: OG Alex Redmond (concussion), CB Tony Brown (hamstrings) OUT; S Brandon Wilson (hamstring), WR Mike Thomas (hamstring), DT Christian Covington (disease), DT Xavier Williams (rear), C BJ Finney (rear), CB Darius Phillips (disease), LS Clark Harris ( disease) QUESTIONABLE
  • Dolphins: RB Salvon Ahmed (shoulder), RB DeAndre Washington (hamstring) DOUBT; QB Tua Tagovailoa (inch), OG Solomon Kindley (foot), RB / WR Malcolm Perry (chest) QUESTIONABLE

Brandon Allen and the Bengals will certainly miss Redmond on the inside, who was ruled out due to a concussion.

Tagovailoa is officially listed as questionable due to his left thumb injury, so it’s possible Ryan Fitzpatrick could make another start against Cincinnati. The Dolphins will be seriously shorthanded as a running back, as Matt Breida was placed on the reserve / COVID list on Friday, and the Ahmed and Washington duo were listed as questionable. Patrick Laird is the only other running back currently listed on the depth chart.

  • The Lions: WR Kenny Golladay (hip), DL Da’Shawn Hand (groin), CB Jeff Okudah (shoulder) OUT; QB Matthew Stafford (right thumb), RB D’Andre Swift (illness), DE Austin Bryant (thigh), DB Tracy Walker (unrelated to injury) QUESTIONABLE
  • Bear: DT Akiem Hicks (hamstrings), LT Charles Leno Jr. (toe), QB Nick Foles (hip), OL Germain Ifedi (leg), OLB James Vaughters (knee), LB Josh Woods (foot), LB Khalil Mack ( rear), WR Allen Robinson (knee), WR Darnell Mooney (knee) QUESTIONABLE

The Lions are entering a new era without Matt Patricia, and they’ll start it this Sunday without many of their starters. Golladay, Hand and Okudah will miss another game, while Stafford and Swift are both considered questionable. The Lions starting quarterback was a limited participant in training all week, while Swift, who had suffered a concussion but now has a non-COVID illness, skipped practice Thursday and Friday after being limited Wednesday.

The Bears’ final injury report is also a bit of concern, as several notable names are listed as questionable to face the Lions. While Foles is listed as questionable and was a full participant in training on Thursday and Friday, head coach Matt Nagy has previously said Mitchell Trubisky will start under center.

Kirk Cousins will miss one of his tight ends in this week’s passing game as Smith was ruled out with a back injury. It will be the second game in a row he will miss.

Giants to the Seahawks (-10.5)

  • Giants: QB Daniel Jones (hamstring) DOUBT; LB David Mayo (knee) QUESTIONABLE
  • Seahawks: TBA

Jones is considered doubtful due to the hamstring problem he suffered last week. He didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but was a limited participant on Friday. According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Giants head coach Joe Judge has said the Giants will make their final decision on Jones once they see how he reacts to the long flight to Seattle. Good news for the Giants, wide receivers Sterling Shepard (toe / shoulder) and Darius Slayton (shoulder / foot) did not have an injury designation despite the limited number of participants in practice all week.

Lindsay, Reed and Jeudy are all moving in the right direction as the three players trained hard on Friday. Asked specifically about Lindsay, Broncos coach Vic Fangio said he was “optimistic” he will have his running back for Sunday’s game.

Edwards-Helaire did not appear on the team’s injury report on Wednesday before missing the final two tries. If the Chiefs rookie running back is to miss the game, that should lead to an expanded role for Le’Veon Bell, who averaged seven touches per game in his first games for the Chiefs.
