The Washington Capitals are unique in being the first NHL team to be fined for violating COVID protocol.
We don’t know the details yet; we just know the cost: $ 100,000.

NEW YORK (January 20, 2021) – The National Hockey League today announced that it has fined the Washington Capitals $ 100,000 for player violations of the League’s COVID-19 protocols involving interactions social among team members who were in close contact and who were not wearing facial blankets.
The Capitals spent the last few days in Pittsburgh, Pa., But returned to Washington last night.
To make matters worse, the NHL listed a “TBA” for “To be announced” under Washington on its COVID-related absences list.
Also, on the NHL’s COVID-related absences list: WASH has a “TBA” next to it. NYI’s Josh Bailey added today.

This list had previously indicated “None” for the Caps. We will provide an update as soon as we have details.
The Caps are scheduled to host the Sabers on Friday. It should be their first home game. Let’s see if that happens.
