The Blues dropped out of Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Sharks quite brutally, scoring all the playoff games for the second time. But St. Louis was a very good team on the road in the playoffs and bounced back with a big 4-2 win in Game 2 on Monday night.
The Blues have managed to limit the Sharks' explosive attack, pushing a lot of opportunities in San Jose out and keeping pressure on goalkeeper Jordan Binnington. The shark center, Logan Couture, who leads the series in goals and points, was able to score both goals for his team in the loss.
Following Monday's win, this series returns to St. Louis (1-1).

Bortuzzo? Bortuzzo!
Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo finished the second period by scoring the first goal of his playoff career. It was a beauty. The Blues showed an excellent puck move and Bortuzzo managed to catch Joe Thornton wandering high in the area before he burned it and beat Martin Jones with a nice setback.
It was a huge goal for St. Louis, who helped him regain his momentum and take a 3-2 lead in the third period.
The sewing show continues
The Blues increased their lead to 2-0 thanks to a goal from Vince Dunn, but the advance did not survive long.
Logan Couture is currently the clubhouse leader for the Conn Smythe race and is only getting stronger as the series progresses. Couture added two more goals to his total in the second period Monday night, giving him 13 goals in the playoffs.
The first fell shorthanded after Couture forced a change of direction, then scored in the breakaway.
Then, a few minutes later, Couture scored again after the Blues turn-over.
Couture's quick attacks drew in the second period when the Sharks regained control of the match.
The Blues jump in the lead
The Blues came out strong from the grid in the second game and managed to find the fast offensive when Jaden Schwartz was found with time and space in the slot and fired a shot in front of Martin Jones.
That goal came just two and a half minutes and gave Schwartz his ninth goal in 15 playoff games. For reference, the Blues striker scored just 11 goals in 69 regular-season games this year.
St. Louis is definitely out with better legs than the Sharks, who seemed a bit flat to start the opening period. However, San Jose finally found his game and started putting together a really solid game to end the period. After the first 20 minutes, the Sharks took the lead (9-6) and scored opportunities (10-3), but are still lagging behind.
